Pamela Lucille Foxx
Pamela Lucille (Sawyer) Foxx, 79 years of age, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2024 with her loving husband Douglas by her side.
Pamela was born to Peter Luxmoore-Ball and Lucille Grayson Cope May 6, 1944 in London, England. Peter tragically died in WWII at 26 when Pamela was only 3 months old. She and her mother moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico soon after her father's death to live with her maternal grandparents Walter Lanham and Lucille Orrell Cope.
In 1951 when Pamela was 7 years old, her mother married Thomas Gerald Sawyer of Lima, Ohio and was adopted by Thomas becoming Pamela Lucille Sawyer. Pamela lived in Lima until 1961 when she married her high school sweetheart, Douglas Putman Foxx.
They both attended Miami University of Ohio where Doug pursued a degree in business and Pam raised their daughter, Deborah born in 1962.
After graduation, the family moved to Ann Arbor where Doug completed his graduate degree at the University of Michigan. Their son Paul Gregory was born in 1967 in Pontiac. In 1968, they moved to Rochester, New York where they lived for many years enjoying the company of a fabulous group of neighbors who became lifelong friends. In 1977, they moved to Bay Village, Ohio where they lived until 2016 when they retired to Fort Myers, Florida, where Doug continues to reside.
Pam’s sense of humor and infectious laugh were such a prominent piece of who she was. She and Doug made wonderful friends in both Rochester and Bay Village who remained close to them throughout their many moves and continue to offer Doug and his family support during this difficult time. She loved having a well organized and beautifully decorated home filled with plants and antiques she and Doug collected together over their 62 years of marriage. Her children recall everyone being required to take off their shoes upon entering the house, watching Pam whisk away their dishes before they were even finished, and if they moved a single object it was immediately noticed and returned to its original location. She was a devoted mother who, besides caring for her family and many beloved pets, also enjoyed gardening and reading.
Pamela is survived by her husband Douglas and her children Deborah Foxx Davies (David Davies) of Massachusetts and Paul Foxx (Jennifer Kaae) of California. She is also survived by her grandchildren Abigail Cope Davies and Wesley Stephenson Davies, both from Rhode Island and her great grandchild Bennett Foxx Leger as well as two step brothers Tommy and David from Ohio, (brother Gerald deceased in 1986), her loving brother in law Gregory Foxx and wife Janice from Mississippi and their three children Gale, Kevin and Patrick Foxx as well as her cousin Paige Townsend who she grew up with and cousins Larry and Jack Townsend of Tennessee.
The family will be having a celebration of Pam's life in the spring.
